I’m Anna Goldwater Alexander. I spent years as Director of Photography at WIRED and Dwell, leading teams and working with top photographers and filmmakers to define how stories about technology, culture, entertainment, and design are told on the page and in digital content. I’ve covered every major shift in Silicon Valley — the first dot-com boom, the rise of Apple, Google, and Amazon, the app explosion, the social media era, streaming culture, and now how AI is reshaping our tools, behaviors, and entire industries almost overnight. Through years of watching these shifts, it’s the human details that still make the work land.

My work has spanned Condé Nast and the broader digital and entertainment landscape as audience behavior changed dramatically. I’ve responded by commissioning talent, shaping visual narratives, and building teams across print, digital, and video.

The projects I’ve produced and directed have been recognized by the American Society of Magazine Editors, the Society of Publication Designers, American Photography, the Art Directors Club, Communication Arts, and the Lucie Foundation.

I hold a BFA in Photography from the University of Arizona. Throughout my career, I’ve mentored photographers, editors, and visual producers, built collaborative systems, and created environments where people can do the strongest work of their careers.

I’m not only a creative producer and photography director. I also consult on archival and legacy photography projects, including partnerships with private foundations and the stewardship of significant photographic collections.
